From successfully hosting the International Figure Skating Training Camp and 2017 SEA Challenge, SM Skating Megamall holds the 2017 Philippine Ice Hockey Tournament (PIHT) from June 14 to 17, 2017.
When Ice Skating were introduced way, way back then, I was excited to enroll my kiddos every summer.
Every time we were in the roadtrip at the metro especially malls like SM Megamall and SM Mall of Asia, I will let them skate even for one (1) hour.
The Ice Skating Rink becomes the discovery of sports to the Philippines even it’s not a winter country.
From successfully hosting the International Figure Skating Training Camp and 2017 SEA Challenge, worldwide ice sports events in the Philippines continue to rise holding now the 2017 Philippine Ice Hockey Tournament (PIHT) from June 14 to 17, 2017.
Apart from continuing the drive for ice sports awareness in the country, the Philippine Ice Hockey Tournament and the recently concluded 2017 SEA Challenge is a great avenue to prepare our national teams for the upcoming 2017 SEA Games,” said SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. president Edgar Tejerero.
Me and hubby were fortunate enough to enter the skate rink withnessing the opening ceremony and ceremonial puck drop as the 2nd Day games begin last June 15.
We got to personally see the players did some practice befor the game start.
Under the PIHT’s adult division, Islanders Red (New York), Pandoo Nation (Singapore), Singapore Sting, Taipei U20, South Korea and Team Pilipinas compete in International Open Category.
Canada Ice Hockey teams and Team Pilipinas B face off in the international 35+ category.
Like other International Ice Hockey Federation, it follows the rules and regulations with PHIT specific alterations that is a contact, non-hitting tournament.
Is there really potential for Team Pilipinas. Got high regards they can make it as Team Pilipinas won that match against Taipei!
